For kaolin containing strong magnetic minerals (magnetite) or iron debris impurities, the effect of iron removal by ordinary magnetic separation is remarkable. However, the impurities of iron minerals in kaolin are usually weakly magnetic. At present, high gradient strong magnetic PTMS magnetic separation is mainly used, or the weak magnetic minerals are converted into strong magnetic iron oxide after roasting, and then removed by ordinary magnetic separation method.
PTMS magnetic separation has two advantages: (1) advanced solenoid magnet structure; (2) A polymer magnetic medium capable of producing high magnetic induction. At a high magnetic field strength, the surface of the stainless steel polymagnetic medium can produce a high magnetic field gradient, which can separate weak magnetic materials at the micron or colloidal particle level.
In addition to ordinary magnetic separation method and high gradient strong magnetic separation method, kaolin suspension (-20μm) can also be added to the selective mutual coagulation of iron ore particles under a certain pH value and Zeta potential conditions, and iron minerals can be separated by ordinary magnetic separation or high gradient strong magnetic PTMS magnetic separation to achieve the purpose of iron removal.
