As an industrial mineral with excellent properties, kaolin is widely used in ceramics, paper making, rubber, plastics, building materials, paint, petrochemical, etc., especially in the ceramic industry. Kaolin can be used as both ceramic billet and glaze. No matter the ceramic industry or other industrial sectors, there are certain requirements for the whiteness of kaolin. PTMS magnetic separator can remove iron (FE2O3) in kaolin.
The leaching method is to use the organic acids (oxalic acid, citric acid) generated by the fermentation of microorganisms (Aspergillus nigricus) to dissolve the insoluble iron oxides in kaolin, dry them, and finally remove iron by PTMS Electromagnetic Separator. According to the stage of microbial fermentation of kaolin, it can be divided into in situ biological bleaching (early fermentation) and two-stage biological bleaching (organic acid accumulation to a certain degree).
Due to the limited species of Aspergillus Niger in the early stage of fermentation and the easy absorption of kaolin after the reaction, the large-scale application of in situ biological bleaching is limited. The two-stage biobleaching method can overcome the shortcomings of the former, and the concentration of organic acids can reach the highest under suitable conditions. This method is the main way of removing iron from PTMS Electromagnetic Separator by microbial method. It has the advantages of low cost, easy operation and no pollution.
