Iron in iron-and titanium-containing minerals can oxidize at high temperatures, forming black iron oxides. These oxides accumulate in the glaze layer, eventually resulting in black spots on the porcelain surface. Multiple PTMS magnetic separation iron removal processes can effectively address this issue. Through repeated magnetic separation, the iron content in these minerals can be gradually reduced.
Each PTMS magnetic separation process reduces the iron content, and after multiple magnetic selections, the iron content is reduced to a very low level. As a result, during the porcelain firing process, the likelihood of black spots forming due to reduced iron content is significantly decreased. We can further illustrate the impact of multiple magnetic selections on product quality through a practical example.
When potassium sodium feldspar, which has not been magnetized or only magnetized once, is used as glaze, black spots often appear on the surface of the produced porcelain and the product has a high rate of defective products. Later, the process of multiple magnetization was adopted and the potassium sodium feldspar was treated with three PTMS magnetic separation times.
