In order to determine the content of common impurities in quartz sand, PTMS Electromagnetic Separator conducts iron removal ICP analysis for -200+300 mesh quartz sand and -300 mesh quartz sand, respectively. The main impurity in the two quartz sand samples is A12O3, but the total impurity content in the two samples is quite different, the total impurity content in the -200+300 mesh quartz sand samples is 0.29%, and the total impurity content in the -300 mesh quartz sand samples is 1.17%.
There was little difference in the contents of MnO and MgO in the two samples, but the contents of other impurities were quite different. Among them, the Fe2O3 content in -300 mesh quartz sand samples is 3 times that of -200+300 mesh quartz sand samples. This indicates that the smaller the particle size, the higher the impurity content, which is also the reason why quartz sand should be de-slime before PTMS Electromagnetic Separator separation and purification.
In the distribution of iron content and SiO2 content in quartz sand with particle size, Fe2O3 content in -60+180 mesh quartz sand is the lowest, with an average value of 0.0075%, and the average value of SiO2 content is 99.28%, but on the whole, Fe2O3 content and SiO2 content have little change with particle size. PTMS magnetic separator can remove iron (FE2O3) in quartz sand.
