Reclaiming PTMS magnetic separation equipment is relatively simple, cost-effective, and user-friendly. However, some researchers argue that flotation proves more effective for fine particles. The density difference between quartz sand and iron impurities in fine particles is minimal, making it challenging to separate them effectively through gravity separation methods. In contrast, flotation can selectively remove fine-grained iron-titanium minerals by adjusting the types and dosages of reagents.
The high costs of flotation equipment and chemicals, coupled with environmental concerns, have drawn significant attention. Ultrasonic PTMS magnetic separation technology has gained widespread recognition in recent years for its efficiency and eco-friendliness. The cavitation effect of ultrasound can instantly generate intense heat, pressure, and powerful shock waves, effectively breaking down impurities on quartz particle surfaces to facilitate their removal.
The ultrasonic iron removal process does not require a large amount of chemical agents, and the environmental pollution is small. However, the cost of ultrasonic PTMS magnetic separation equipment is high, which limits its application in mass production.
